MONAD Rupert

Monad Rupert is a four-storey mixed-use development designed to transition the low-density single family, yet commercial zoned, neighborhood in Vancouver. Planned and developed as a prefabricated mass-timber building, it seeks to combine the low carbon footprint with a high level of livability and expedited construction.

The design approach is derived from the original Monad-on-Fourth building that won 2 of the inaugural Urban Design Awards from the City of Vancouver in 2014. While the former has 4 larger homes and a commercial space, this project has been adapted and proposes 14 homes and a commercial space on a similar site dimension. The design is driven by the major objectives of livability, sustainability and affordability specifically within an urban infill context.
